Driving Startups: New Web Site Aims to Boost U.S. Economy

Author:

Reports say: The housing market is in shambles; retail sales are down; a recession is looming. According to a couple of Los Angeles entrepreneurs, there is no better time to start a new business.

This week, Mark Verge and Dan Bliss are unveiling PerfectBusiness.com, a new Web site that helps aspiring entrepreneurs launch new businesses. Verge, who is the founder of apartment search engine WestsideRentals.com, describes the new site as an online network that “connects entrepreneurs with the people and resources needed to start a business.”

Bliss adds, “We proactively match business buyers with sellers and investors with startups seeking capital. Our site will not only help individuals achieve their goals, it will also stimulate the economy by generating new jobs that didn't exist yesterday.”

The company’s goal is to help 5,000 new businesses get off the ground by Dec. 31, 2009. These companies will create over 50,000 new jobs that do not exist today.

Verge explains, “Helping people start new businesses is something that we are very passionate about. It's the American dream.”

Bliss says, “We take away the excuses and give people a kick in the rear. If you want to start a business, stop talking about it, and just do it.”

The Web site provides educational forums, articles, event listings, a business marketplace and a video center that features interviews with successful entrepreneurs. PerfectBusiness produces all of these videos in-house. The production team has interviewed the likes of Joe Coulombe, founder of Trader Joe’s; Steven Lipscomb, founder of The World Poker Tour; Wing Lam, founder of Wahoo’s Fish Taco, and many others. These videos are free to all members.
